Conferences and bioarchaeology workshop, June 2025

June has been a very busy month for the team. Following the field season in February, we have started data processing and presentation of our preliminary findings during two conference meetings in Warsaw and Prague. During the annual Poles on the Nile conference held at the University of Warsaw, Iwona and her team presented an update on the project, highlighting our discoveries of linen dresses and the potential of skeletal and dental data in reconstructing health profiles of the cemetery population. An overview of the project and its findings to date was also presented at the Abusir and Saqqara in the Year 2025 conference in Prague. The meeting was a great opportunity to connect with other colleagues working at the two iconic Memphite necropoleis and discuss research opportunities.

Iwona and Magda organised a bioarchaeology workshop jointly with their Czech colleagues to discuss current methodologies and research opportunities pertaining to human remains and funerary textiles. It is hoped that the two teams will work jointly in the future.
